The Quest

"The pines were roaring on the height,
The winds were moaning in the night.
The fire was red, it flaming spread;
The trees like torches blazed with light.

The bells were ringing in the dale
And men looked up with faces pale;
The dragon's ire more fierce than fire
Laid low their towers and houses frail.

The mountain smoked beneath the moon;
The dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom.
They fled their hall to dying fall
Beneath his feet, beneath the moon.

Far over misty mountains grim
To dungeons deep and caverns dim
We must away ere break of day,
To win our harps and gold from him!"

(J.R.R. Tolkien, from "The Hobbit")

Something lost.

Something stolen.

A golden Age brought to ruin.

The descendant of kings, now in exile.

Longing grows to regain what was lost, to face an ancient foe, to defeat him, to release a people chained in fear and darkness.

Brave, noble hearts rally to their king. A secret counsel is convened; bold plans are conceived. The Quest for Restoration begins.

This is the tale Tolkien tells in The Hobbit. It also happens to be the story of the Bible.

And it could be your story.

"I will go before you and will level the mountains;
I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.
I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places,
so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel,
who summons you by name." (Isaiah 45:2-3)
